This class is designed for students who have completed High Beginner Tagalog or have equivalent experience. Students should already be familiar with basic sentence patterns, common everyday vocabulary, actor-focus verbs, and present, past, and future tenses.

This course is the next step for learners who can already speak in simple sentences and are ready to build longer conversations, ask and answer more detailed questions, and navigate everyday situations in Tagalog with greater ease and confidence.

In this Low Intermediate Tagalog course, youโ€™ll continue developing your speaking, listening, reading, and comprehension skills through practical, real-life topics. The class will focus on helping you move beyond memorized phrases into more flexible conversational exchanges.

Grammar will be introduced and reviewed as needed to support natural communication, with an emphasis on using Tagalog in everyday situations.

Joy was born, raised, and educated in the southern Philippines, where she earned a bachelorโ€™s degree in Communication Arts in Filipino. Before moving to the U.S., she worked as a public school language teacher. Since relocating, she has spent over a decade training military personnel and U.S. Foreign Service Officers in Tagalog through language services on the East Coast.

Her work has ranged from curriculum development and government consulting to standardized test creationโ€”all with a passion for clarity, cultural immersion, and real-world application. Joy believes that language is not just a tool for communication, but a gateway to understanding people and the culture they live in.
