👥 Who This Course Is For
This course is designed for students who already have some basic knowledge of Spanish—either from a recent beginner course or past self-study—and want to continue building their skills.
If you can introduce yourself, use simple phrases, and understand basic vocabulary, but want more confidence speaking and forming sentences, this class is the ideal next step. Whether you’re learning Spanish for travel, work, family, or personal growth, this course offers a supportive, small-group environment to take your Spanish to the next level.
🎯 What You’ll Learn
In this course, you’ll expand your foundation in Spanish language and culture, including:
Talking about your routine, hobbies, and preferences
Asking and answering simple questions
Understanding and using present-tense verb conjugations
Describing people, places, and everyday situations
Listening and speaking practice with native-speed dialogues
More vocabulary for daily life, travel, and casual conversation

👩🏫 About the Instructor
Ana is a Peruvian native and currently resides in El Cerrito, California. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of California, Davis. Her teaching philosophy values diversity and incorporates student’s needs. Moreover, her pedagogy is focused on the development of cultural identity and linguistic competence. Ana has been teaching Spanish as a second language, Spanish to heritage speakers and Latin American literature for more than 20 years.Since she moved to California in 2002, Ana has served as a Lecturer at California State University East Bay, Visiting assistant professor at University of San Diego, Associate instructor at UC Davis, Spanish tutor at Berkeley City College, and Spanish instructor in different high schools in the SF East Bay. Ana is a passionate educator committed to inspiring her students to appreciate learning and to value the unique cultures that they themselves bring to the community at large. She is a published author of poetry including four books of her own and has published additional poems and essays in multiple collaborative collections. In her spare time Ana enjoys cooking, reading poetry and fiction, writing poetry, going to the beach and hiking in nature.
