Low Beginner Russian – In-Person Class in Berkeley
Accessible to learners from Oakland, San Francisco & across the Bay Area
Course Dates
This in-person Russian class will meet from December 16th to February 3rd. Please note there will be no classes on December 23rd and 30th due to instructor’s traveling.
The class is held at our Berkeley location at:
📍 2161 Shattuck Ave, Suites 234–235, Berkeley, CA
Classes meet weekly in small groups of 3–6 students, creating a highly interactive, supportive learning environment.
If only two students enroll, the course will still run but will be shortened to five weeks instead of the usual six.
This location is easily accessible for students commuting from Oakland and San Francisco via BART or car.
About the Instructor
Olga, originally from Belarus, is a passionate language educator with a strong academic background. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in French and English Languages (University of Mogilev), a Master’s in Pedagogical Sciences (Minsk Linguistic University), and is ABD in Belarusian Language and Literature.
Her research focuses on Russian-speaking women's literature of Belarus, giving her deep insight into both language and culture. Olga is fluent in Russian, Belarusian, French, English, and has studied Latin, offering students a broad, multilingual perspective. Her teaching is clear, engaging, and culturally rich.
Who This Course Is For
This course is designed for students who have already completed a beginner-level Russian course or have a basic foundation in the language (can read Cyrillic, introduce yourself, and use simple phrases).

What You’ll Learn
In this course, you’ll expand on your foundation in Russian by practicing more complex grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills.
You’ll learn to:
Talk about your family, work, and daily routines in greater detail
Ask and answer questions in different contexts
Use numbers, time, and dates with confidence
Navigate shopping, dining, and travel situations
Understand and apply basic cases (nominative, accusative, genitive)
Develop stronger listening comprehension and speaking fluency

You’ll be able to:
Hold longer conversations in Russian on everyday topics
Use the Cyrillic alphabet comfortably in reading and writing
Apply essential grammar structures (present tense verbs, plurals, and basic cases)
Express needs, preferences, and opinions
Understand cultural norms to communicate naturally with native speakers
