This course is designed for students who have studied Japanese for about 6–8 months and are ready to build upon their foundation. It’s ideal for learners who can already read hiragana and katakana, hold short conversations, and are now eager to advance toward more complex grammar, richer vocabulary, and smoother communication.

📖 What You’ll Learn
In this course, students will review key beginner grammar and expand their skills with more nuanced expressions. Lessons will emphasize speaking, listening, reading, and writing equally, and you’ll start to:
Describe past events and daily routines using correct verb forms
Express preferences, comparisons, and polite requests
Develop conversation flow with transitions and sentence connectors
Understand and apply more formal/informal speech distinctions
Improve your confidence and accuracy when speaking
Lessons are practical and culturally grounded, helping you communicate more naturally in everyday situations.

Talking about your schedule and past experiences
Making plans and polite requests
Shopping, ordering, and asking for help
Cultural etiquette and expressions in context
Dialogues, pair work, and role-play for fluency building

Grammar and vocabulary explained through examples
Speaking and listening activities in pairs or groups

Jenna earned her M.A. in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language and holds a B.A. in Japanese Language and Literature. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has worked with learners from a wide variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Jenna is passionate about creating lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to her students’ interests. Her warm and student-focused approach helps learners build both skill and confidence, while enjoying those “Aha!” moments that make language learning so rewarding.

A minimum of three students is required for the class to run the full six weeks.
