 Course Objectives: Tagalog Beginners 1 is intended for students without any previous knowledge of Tagalog /0 level proficiency. The course will focus on speaking/listening and some reading activities and insight of some cultural aspects of the Philippine culture. After completing the course, students will be able to ask and answer simple questions and give simple descriptions (at a simple sentence level) within the topics familiar to them as well as simple sentences in short texts at a conceptual level of control progressing toward 1 proficiency level.

 Schedule:

Ø  Week 1: Basic phrases, Greetings, About Self and getting acquainted.

               Language Features: Questions words and Markers, simple pattern

Ø  Week 2: Introduction of Family and members

               Language Features: Pronoun Sets, Location Markers,

Ø  Week 3: Daily Activities, hobbies, Likes and Dislikes.

               Language Features: Pseudo Verbs and simple verb form

Ø  Week 4: My Hometown, places, giving directions.

               Language Features: Forming Adjectives, Spatial location words.

Ø  Week 5: Travel (Shopping, ordering food etc.)

               Language Features: Simple Object Focus Verbs

Ø  Week 6: Culture
