Polyglottist Language Academy ("PLA," "we," "us," or "our") offers language classes and operates polyglottistlanguageacademy.com. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you visit our website, contact us, subscribe to updates, register for classes, or purchase our services.
Information we collect
Information you provide: Your name, email address, phone number, class interests, language level, scheduling preferences, enrollment details, messages, and other information you choose to send us. If you sign up for marketing emails, we collect your email address and your subscription preferences.
Purchases and classes: We collect order and payment status, purchase history, and the information needed to provide and administer classes. Payment providers handle your payment details; we do not need your complete card number to process an order.
Website activity: Our site and connected services may collect your IP address, device and browser information, approximate location derived from your IP address, pages viewed, referral source, interactions with the site, and cookie or similar identifiers. The site uses Squarespace analytics, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and Google reCAPTCHA. Meta Pixel may send page views and events such as newsletter signups or checkout activity to Meta.
We collect information directly from you, automatically through the site, and from the providers involved in your registration or purchase.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries; register students, schedule and deliver classes; process payments and provide receipts; administer our relationship with students, parents or guardians, and instructors; send newsletters or promotions when you subscribe; measure and improve our website and advertising; protect the site and prevent abuse; and comply with legal and tax obligations. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in a message or by contacting us. Service messages about a class or purchase may still be sent.
When we share information
We share information as needed with instructors involved in a class and with providers that help us run the business. These may include Squarespace for hosting, forms, email and site analytics; Stripe and PayPal (including Venmo when offered through PayPal) for payments; Airtable for organizing inquiries or class information; and AI tools such as ChatGPT for limited administrative work, such as organizing information or preparing drafts. We also use Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA for measurement and security, and Meta Pixel for advertising measurement. These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Meta may receive information about your activity on our site through its Pixel. We do not sell mailing lists. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not authorize our instructors or administrative providers to use student information for their own marketing.
Cookies and tracking choices
Our site uses necessary cookies to operate and may use optional analytics and advertising cookies or similar technologies from Squarespace, Google, and Meta. Our cookie banner offers options to accept, decline, or manage optional cookies; you can revisit those choices through the site's cookie preferences control. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect site features. Third-party services may have their own privacy and advertising controls. We will consider and respond to requests under applicable law. You may unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide classes, manage our relationship with you, resolve issues, maintain business and tax records, and meet legal requirements. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to any records we must retain. The duration of cookies and data held by service providers may differ; their policies provide more information.
Children and international visitors
Our classes may involve minors. A parent or guardian should submit inquiries and registration information for a student under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information directly through the site, contact us so we can review and take appropriate steps. If you are outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Security and changes
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no website or method of storage is completely secure. We may update this policy as our practices or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here with a new effective date and provide further notice when required.
