About the instructor: Joy was born, raised, and educated in the Southern part of the Philippines, where she got her bachelor’s degree, majoring in Communication Arts in Filipino, and was a Language Teacher in a public school before moving here in the USA. Since then, she became a sub-contractor (and sometimes an independent contractor) to Language Services companies on the East Coast, serving military officers as well as Foreign Service Officers. With more than a decade of experience in Tagalog Language Training, whether it is teaching/training Tagalog to diplomats heading to the Philippines, developing language curriculums for contracting government agencies or companies, or creating standardized test materials for language testing, she does it all with enthusiasm, perfection, and love for her work. She believes that language is a tool to understand a culture, and culture is what connects people.

About the class: The Tagalog Beginner 2 class is the next level of language instruction designed for students who have completed the Tagalog Beginner 1 course or have a basic understanding of Tagalog vocabulary and grammar. Building upon the foundation laid in the previous level, this class aims to further develop students' proficiency in the Tagalog language and enhance their ability to communicate effectively.

Throughout the course, students will expand their vocabulary and learn more complex grammatical structures to deepen their understanding of Tagalog. They will delve into various thematic topics such as family, food, travel, and daily routines, allowing them to engage in more detailed conversations and discussions. Emphasis will be placed on improving listening and speaking skills, as well as reading and writing abilities.

In the Tagalog Beginner 2 class, students will engage in interactive activities and group discussions to practice their communication skills. They will be encouraged to express their thoughts and opinions in Tagalog, and the instructor will provide guidance and feedback to help students improve their pronunciation, fluency, and grammar usage.

By the end of the class, students should be able to engage in meaningful conversations on a wide range of topics, understand more complex written texts, and express themselves more confidently in Tagalog. They will have expanded their vocabulary and acquired a deeper understanding of the language's grammatical structures. With this solid foundation, students will be prepared to progress to the next level of Tagalog language learning, enabling them to communicate with greater fluency and accuracy.
